- Open from 01/01/2024 to 31/12/2024
The 500 m long chaussée de Vabres is situated below the Armand body repair workshop and is open 3 days a week (Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday) as well as during the holidays and Bank holidays.
Fish releases are regularly carried out on this section by the fishermen association « les Chevaliers de la Gaule » (AAPPMA in Saint-Affrique), which partnership with the community of Vabres has been renewed this year.
Whether they use lures, natural baits or practice fly fishing, experienced devotees and beginners alike will be able to enjoy their favourite pastime in 1st and 2nd category streams. The closing date for the brown trout fishing season is during September, whereas the rainbow trout can be caught in 2nd category streams until December.
As a reminder, the Dourdou River (known as the « Dourdou de Camarès ») is part of the 2nd category streams up to Camarès, the number of catches is limited to 6 trout per day and per angler, with a minimum catching size of 23 cm. On the « Family fishing route », catches are limited to 5 trout per day and family.
This « Family route » is completely suitable for children since fishing can be practised from the river's edge. Two accesses are available, for the first one you need to take the path that runs below the DARDIE flour mill, the other one goes directly under the Vabres bridge.
Family fishing route
For a few years now, Vabres has made available a Family fishing course exclusively reserved for children under 16 years of age, allowing them to enjoy fishing on a dedicated section, whether or not accompanied by an adult.
