Plaisance

Plaisance, a breath of nature in the heart of the valleys

The calm of the vales, the song of the Rance, the warmth of sun-kissed stones. In Plaisance, in the heart of southern Aveyron, life follows the rhythm of the wind and the whisper of memories. Days stretch gently between spontaneous walks, wild swims and echoes of history along cobbled lanes. The Romanesque bell tower keeps watch. Times softens. And little by little, you find yourself truly connected to nature – as if it had always been home.

The Moulin de l’Horte leisure park : Summer in Full Nature at Plaisance

Far from the noise, close to what truly matters, the Moulin de l’Horte leisure park is a refreshing haven nestled in lush greenery, designed for those who simply want to slow down.

Children run between the playgrounds, the tennis court and the football fields. Parents laugh together around communal barbecues. Some stretch out with a book in hand, while others dip their feet in the river. Here, life is lived outdoors, together.

When the sun climbs high, two delights await :

  • A natural swim in the Rance River – refreshing, free and wild.
  • The intercommunal pool with its supervised pools, water games and sun loungers (open in July and August).

Want to extend your escape ? The Moulin municipal campsite, right on site, offers fully equipped lodges or spacious pitches for tents and vans. A little slice of paradise… whether for a night or the whole summer.

A millennia-old past carved in stone

It reveals itself slowly, winding up the lanes lined with stone walls and ivy. High above, the Romanesque Church of Saint Martin stands on its promontory, waiting in silence. Its rare and elegant octagonal bell tower pierces the sky, a guardian of the centuries. Every stone seems to hold a forgotten prayer.

As you continue, discover the ancient ramparts, medieval towers and monumental gates – remnants of a past when Plaisance and Curvalle lived to the rhythm of alliances and legends.

The river separated the two villages, yet also connected them… a living boundary, a thread of water an memory.

Plaisance on foot or by bike : three must-do loops in nature

Want to take in views ? On foot or by bike, Plaisance offers hidden and stunning routes.

  • Le Sentier de Saint-Laurent : Start from the village, enjoy a gentle climb through woods and meadows, and soon reach the perched hamlet of Saint-Laurent. On the way back, pause by a 14th-century cross engraved in Occitan. The panoramic view over the valley is simply breathtaking.
  • Le Sentier du Suc d’Armont : An off-the-beaten-path route leading to the commune’s highest point. Pause for awe at La Rouquette, a hamlet suspended between sky and earth, before gently descending through a landscape of chestnut trees and schists, rich with human history.
  • Boucle cyclo "Des vallons au Rougier" : Saddle up and discover a bucolic adventure through the Rance valley, the Coupiac castle, the Combret hill and hidden villages.

Plaisance is not just a destination. It is a breath of fresh air.

A village where every element seems in harmony with the essentials : water, stone, trees, voices. And a quiet yet powerful invitation : “Take your time”.
