It really feels like spring !

It really feels like spring !

During school holidays, spring is in the air at the Coupiac Château.

On this special occasion, budding young gardeners are invited to go on an exciting mystery hunt inside the château. This treasure hunt which is included in the price of the visit to the castle, provides lots of fun and allows children to explore the château in an entertaining way. Riddles are to be solved, some of which are easy and intended for very young aged 3 to 6, who will have to find insects in rooms of the castle and free them in the garden, others are a bit trickier and intended for youths aged 6 to 12, who will have to assist the gardener in choosing which vegetables to grow in the kitchen garden.

Budding young gardeners will be rewarded with sweet treats and there are also presents to be won!

A playful way for you and your family to discover or rediscover the château.

    Merry-go-rounds, sweets...

During the Easter holidays the Saint-Affrique funfair has become the not-to-be-missed event with ride attractions available from Wednesday April, 18 to Sunday May, 13.

The funfair is a magic world for both children and adults with its typically enthralling sounds, smells and lights! Our eyes are in wonderment before the fairytale setting and the confectionary that delight our taste buds.

Candyfloss stalls, chair swing rides, bumper cars, water inflatable attractions will take over the Foch square and the public garden over a three week period. The funfair will reach a peak during the traditional May fair scheduled for Sunday, May 6.

    Larzac running Trail

    Larzac running Trail

Dare you confront yourself to the typical routes of the Larzac Trail? Are you willing to take up the physical challenge? Are you also ready to discover the outstanding heritage and natural diversity in this landscape of outstanding beauty you will be running through?

“The Larzac Trip Trail is a running trail flavoured with the Larzac touch, which is designed by trail runners for trail runners who tend to love typical routes”. It has to be acknowledged that Larzac provides the perfect playground for trail runners with a rugged terrain offering significant differences in altitude and a beautiful setting: amphitheatres, caussenard buissières (narrow tracks that run between two rows of box trees, so typical of the caussenard landscape), canyons and villages filled with history…

Every year, trail runners are charmed by the magic of this natural setting, often returning to repeat the experience the following year. So be ready for the starting signals, May 12th and 13th!

Enrolment is open now and you will be offered an early registration price until March 13th inclusive

Two races starting from the cheese-making village are scheduled this weekend and we encourage any passing visitor to come and support the trail runners!

Do you long to be in the beauty of nature and also have the opportunity to step back in time to the Jurassic period!

The Tournemire amphitheatre situated between the Roquefort caves and the Templar and Hospitaller sites is an outstanding geological area. At its entrance, a 180 million-year-old complete skeleton of an exceptional marine dinosaur, the Occitanosaurus tournemirensis was discovered fossilized in the “grey clay soils.” A copy of the original skeleton is exhibited in the House of Plesiosaur located in the heart of the village.

The Vispens farm welcomes you to experience a day or a long stay in interaction with horses.

Although sheep breeding is the emblematic activity of the area, horse farms are also to be found within the Grands Causses Regional Natural Park. The Vispens equestrian farm is located in an outstanding setting close to St-Affrique and offers a whole range of equestrian activities.

From horse riding along the trails of the Vispens Causse to multi-day horseback trips with nights spent bivouacking or in a gite, several options are available depending on your experience and wishes.

These trips and riding experiences may stimulate the desire of apprentices to work in equestrian related activities.

Do you fancy tasting some Roquefort cheese ?

Do you fancy tasting some Roquefort cheese ?

Come and tickle your taste buds and enjoy the great Roquefort experience!

This is the perfect time to come and visit the maturing caves whilst the new cheeses are ripening. It is the darkness of the caves that causes the Penicillium roqueforti fungus to develop successfully into its unique flavours. The whole maturation process involves a slow refinement from January to late June. After a 90-day period, including a minimum of 14 days of ripening in the caves, the Roquefort loafes reach a perfect state of maturation so that you can savor them at their optimum.

After your visit to the caves, come and enjoy the tasting session where you can explore the nuances of the different flavors of the whole range of Roquefort.

Seven Roquefort manufacturers welcome you to share their passion. You can find out all the information to plan your visit here.

Make your stay an unforgettable gourmet trip during which you can explore cheeses of the Aveyron. The internet blogger Itinera Magica shares her experience about two emblematic cheeses: Roquefort and Laguiole.

So if you are a gourmet enthusiast and love local food pay also a visit to the blog “déguster l’Aveyron” (savour Aveyron produce) and find out about the sharing of experience of Aveyron gastronomy. Enjoy reading this blog and we look forward to seeing you soon in Roquefort!
