Episcopal castle: a timeless fortress

Perched above the village, the episcopal castle of Saint-Izaire transports you back in time. Built in the 14th century and listed as a Historic Monument, it was the summer residence of the bishops of Vabres. Today, it houses a fascinating museum combining rural art, archaeology and traditional archery — a living immersion in life in days gone by.

Continue your discovery with the neo-Gothic church dating from 1891, the remains of the old church and the medieval lanes that look like a film set. A little gem for lovers of history... and tranquility !

And for those intrigued by prehistory, a stone's throw from the village, Neolithic statue-menhirs reveal their mysterious silhouettes. Carved from stone several millennia ago, they add a sacred touch to this land of heritage.
