Saint-Rome-de-Cernon is located just 10 minutes from the Roquefort caves, in Cernon Valley, easily accessible via the D999. The village is served by an SNCF train station, on the Béziers - Neussargues line, providing easy access to the Roquefort region.

The Castle of Mélac : a monument steeped in history

Mélac, a living castle of Rouergue

Originally built as a fortress, with its round towers, ramparts and sturdy keep, the Castle of Mélac gradually evolved into an elegant noble residence under the influence of the Gozon, Morlhon, and Arpajon families. A witness to the Wars of Religion, it was partially restored in the 17th century and remains inhabited and carefully maintained to this day.

At certain times of the year, it opens its doors to visitors for an authentic immersion in the history of Rouergue : furnished rooms, a chapel, spiral staircases, monumental fireplaces... and a spectacular panorama over the causses!

Mélac is part of the Route des Seigneurs du Rouergue, a must-see cultural trail bringing together 20 iconic castles of Aveyron. Every summer, Les Musicales de Mélac transform the site into a stage for classical music concerts, blending heritage, emotion, and conviviality.

A place full of history and life, an absolute must-see!
