Your destination place – Get out into the countryside, stay at Domaine le Vaxergues

Domaine Le Vaxergues is a perfect peaceful place for nature lovers. Certified Refuges LPO and Agir Pour la Biodiversité, at the heart of its 3-hectares park with some 300-years trees! We have also put in place nesting boxes for tits, insects’ hotels, and bats’ cottages. During your stay, you will certainly have the chance to glimpse wild rabbits in the park just as squirrels at the bottom of your cottage!

Mixing wood, metal and wool, the holiday cottages’ decorating is pleasant and authentic. Settle down in a lively place with generous volumes. The relaxation is on the program, dive in a hot and wraparound water directly on your balcony according to your whims or chill out by the pool which is warmed up and treated in an ecological way with salt. Sofas areas on the grass to enjoy your holidays and readings.

Want to slow down? Wander past the stales a Saint-Affrique market, renowned for its mostly organic local products and meet for a coffee or lunch, to chat or put the world to rights.

It will be a pleasure to discover the vegetable garden certified Agriculture Biologique. You could naturally buy eggs, organic vegetables, and fruits close by your holiday cottage.

Cycling or hiking amateurs? The Domaine is located close to the start of many hiking and mountain biking trails. Electric mountain bikes are available.

To start the day on a gourmet note, your hosts have kindly prepared a hamper for you! On the menu are local products that will make you want to discover more of our local specialities.

Step 1 – Wake up your inner self

Disconnect yourself during a peaceful walk in the middle of nature, Gwénaëlle guide you to live a cosy experience that is beyond the simple moment of well-being by connecting to the essential. Immerse yourself deep in the forest, all you must do is let yourself be carried away in the present moment! It is not “just” a walk, it is a real accompanying to the well-being, to the greater physical and emotional well-being, to the amazement and a connection to the self and to nature. No naturalist discovery, but the discovery of your inner self, of nature’s beauty and of the living world.

It is an internal development at the heart of the forest to slow down, take care of yourself. On the program: relaxation postures, breathing exercises, earth energising integration and connection, barefoot walks, sensory meditation, visualization, connection with trees. Trees will teach you their wisdom: calm, serenity, integration, harmony.

Step 2 – In “cabanière”’s shoes

Let yourself be carried along the taste and the smell of the King of Cheese to reach the village of Roquefort and its cellars. Discover the legend and the ancestral cheese-making savoir-faire of Gabriel Coulet, family company created in 1872, that collects medals at agricultural competitions.

You will start the visit with a 20-minutes movie that recounting the family’s story which is proud to perpetuate the heritage of 5 generations of cheese-making expertise.

Take the stairs, towards the reconstituted salting room and learn about the “cabanières”’s valuable handiwork that carefully packed this white and blue gold that is Roquefort. As you will see, it is not that easy!

All this will make your mouth water. The final tasting of Roquefort and ewe’s tome with a glass of wine will certainly satisfy gourmand’s taste buds!

The gourmet extra of the stay: The wish to continue to trat yourself goes through the delight of eating, so succumb to a dinner at Le Pont Neuf restaurant where Jérome’s cooking gives prominence to homemade by highlighting quality products from our “aveyronnais” local. Like this you will be tempted by Roquefort-based dishes, Aveyronnais veal, Aubrac beef, lamb sweetbreads and aligot. Unmissable moment, end the meal with a trilogy of Roquefort!
